The 2025 edition of Champions Trophy is slated to be held in Pakistan early next year and the PCB wants to leave no stone untuned to make the ICC tournament successful.

In a recent development, the Pakistan board will use new floodlights at stadiums in Karachi and Lahore for the showpiece event.

According to a PTI report, besides installing the new light towers in Karachi and Lahore on rental basis, the PCB has also decided to do the same at smaller venues like Quetta, Abbottabad, Peshawar in a bid to complete the hectic domestic season by playing matches under lights in hot weather.

To save costs, the PCB has decided to move the already installed floodlights in Karachi and Lahore to Quetta and Rawalpindi respectively.

Moreover, the PCB has started inviting tenders from eligible companies to provide these light towers on a rental basis for the period between August 2024 and July 2025.

A source in the board mentioned that some of the towers would be sponsored but couldn't provide exact costs involved in this process.

“The idea behind this process is to ensure smaller venues are also equipped with light towers for domestic cricket and major venues like Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi where most of the international games and CT matches would be played get towers which ensure international standard and uninterrupted provision of light during matches,” he explained.

The Pakistan Cricket Board is also seeking tenders for generators for multiple venues, including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Abbottabad, Quetta, and Peshawar. This move aims to address power fluctuations and load shedding problems.

With barely a few months remaining for the Champions Trophy, the PCB is already carrying out intensive renovations at its stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Due to the renovations, the second Test with Bangladesh in Karachi will be played in the absence of crowd.
