India defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in the recent T20I series in Kandy and it has resulted in huge gains for Men in Blue players in the recent ICC T20I players rankings update on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

India defeated Sri Lanka in the super over in the third and final T20I at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy to pocket the series 3-0. India had won the first T20I by 43 runs on Saturday, and the second T20I by 7 wickets (DLS) on Sunday.

Thanks to their performances, Indian players have made huge advancements in the ICC T20I rankings. Yashasvi Jaiswal has moved two spots up to the 4th place in the ICC T20I batting rankings. India vice-captain Shubman Gill moved up 16 places to 21st spot.

In the T20I bowling rankings, Ravi Bishnoi was back inside the top 10 following an eight-spot jump. His teammates Arshdeep Singh (up four spots to 19th), Washington Sundar (up six places to 40th) and Mohammed Siraj (up 37 rungs to 47th) also make some ground.

Suryakumar Yadav remains the highest-ranked Indian batter in the T20I rankings at the second spot. Hardik Pandya is ranked 6th in the T20I rankings for the all-rounders.

On the other hand, ICC Test batting rankings saw Kane Williamson being dethroned from his No. 1 spot. England star Joe Root has been rewarded for his excellent series against the West Indies and has been crowned the new one ranked Test batter.

Root managed a series-best 291 runs over three matches against the Caribbean side and his effort of 87 in the third and final Test.

Williamson drops to second place on the Test batter rankings, while Babar Azam (equal third), New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell (equal third), Australia's Steve Smith (fifth) and India's Rohit Sharma (sixth) all gain a spot.

On the Test bowling side, Mark Wood (up six spots to 20th) and Gus Atkinson (gains four places to 46th) are the main beneficiaries. Ben Stokes (up one place to sixth) and Chris Woakes (up three spots to ninth) make ground on the list for Test All-Rounders in a further boost for England.
