Mohsin Naqvi, the incumbent PCB chief, is set to replace India’s Jay Shah as the next Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President, as per its rotation policy.

The matter of the president's post was discussed at a recent ACC meeting with Naqvi in line to become the next head. BCCI secretary Jay Shah is the incumbent ACC president, having got a one-year extension in January this year for a third consecutive term.

When the ACC meets later this year, it will confirm that Naqvi will be the next president for a two-year term,” a source told PTI.

The Asia Cup 2025 will be hosted by India in T20 format, while Bangladesh will host the 2027 edition in ODI format, according to the ACC.

This means that two significant events are planned for 2025: the Champions Trophy in Pakistan in February-March, followed by the Asia Cup, which will act as a forerunner to the T20 World Cup 2026.

The two events are sure to spark debate and conjecture about whether India would travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, or Pakistan will visit India for the Asia Cup.

Pakistan returned to India for the ODI World Cup last year, having previously visited the country in 2011 for the same tournament and again in 2016 for the T20 World Cup.

India has not visited Pakistan since 2008, when they toured for the 50-over Asia Cup.
