Premier Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has made a U-turn and taken back his international retirement on March 24, 2024. He has also made himself available for selection in the Pakistan team for the T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in the West Indies and USA in June.

On December 17, 2020, he announced his retirement from international cricket. He cited his disinterest in representing Pakistan, attributing it to feeling "mentally tortured" and enduring taunts related to his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal.

However, he has been an active participant in the PSL and other domestic cricket leagues. He recently turned out for Quetta Gladiators in the recent PSL 2024 and picked 10 wickets in 9 matches.

Overall, Amir played international cricket for 11 years from 2009 to 2020 during which time he picked up 119 wickets from 36 Tests, 81 scalps from 61 ODIs, and 59 wickets from 50 T20Is.
