Rohit Sharma storms into top 10, Virat Kohli moves to No.6 spot in ICC Test rankings for batters

India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah moved to the fourth spot in the Test bowling rankings.

Australia's 3-0 series sweep against Pakistan in Sydney and India’s historic win over South Africa in the Cape Town Test caused noteworthy changes in the ICC Men's Test rankings.

As per the updated rankings released on Wednesday (January 10), India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah moved to the fourth spot (787 rating points), surpassing his compatriot Ravindra Jadeja.

Another Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj gained 13 places to secure his career-best 17th rank (661 rating points) after picking up seven wickets in the Newlands Test against South Africa.  

South Africa's Lungi Ngidi jumped nine spots to take the 28th place, while Australian captain Pat Cummins overtook Kagiso Rabada to attain the second spot (858 rating points).

Cummins' teammate Josh Hazlewood advanced to the tied seventh position (761 rating points) in the bowlers' rankings from the 11th spot. Hazlewood shares the seventh spot with England's James Anderson.

In the batting rankings, Australia's Marnus Labuschagne surged to the fourth spot (802 rating points), while Steve Smith retained his third position (818 rating points).

Pakistan's wicketkeeper, Mohammad Rizwan, leapfrogged 10 places to attain the 17th spot after his impressive knocks of 88 and 28 at SCG. Aiden Markram entered the top 20 (667) after his incredible century on the difficult Newlands track.

India’s star batters Virat Kohli (775) and Rohit Sharma (748) moved to the sixth and tenth positions, respectively. While Kohli registered scores of 46 and 12 in the Cape Town Test, Rohit returned with scores of 39 and 16 not out.

In the ODI format, Sri Lanka's series against Zimbabwe saw considerable movements in the rankings.

Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana achieved a career-high rating (634) and an 11th rank after taking four wickets across the matches. Sri Lanka's batter Charith Asalanka entered the top 20 in the batting rankings after his stunning knock of 101 in the opening ODI.
