New Zealand seamer Kyle Jamieson will be rested for the next two ODIs against Bangladesh ahead of the three-match T20I series starting from December 27. The second One-Day International (ODI) between Bangladesh and New Zealand will be played on Wednesday, December 20 in Nelson.

He did not play the first game which the Kiwis won on the DLS method by 44 runs. While Jamieson will have to sit out the second ODI against Bangladesh, Finn Allen will play for the Auckland Aces in their Super Smash opener on Tuesday.

In the first ODI, the Kiwis batted first and scored 239/7 in a rain-shortened 30-over game, led by Tom Latham. Will Young hit a stunning century, and skipper Latham added 93 to help them reach a competitive total. Bangladesh, on the other hand, were dismissed for 200 runs.

All of their bowlers took wickets, with Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi, and debutant Josh Clarkson collecting two each.

In an official statement, New Zealand Cricket said that the decision on Jamieson was taken after he “experienced stiffness in his hamstring following his arrival home from Bangladesh last week”. Ben Sears who was called in as a cover for Jamieson will stay with the team throughout the series.

There’s a lot of cricket ahead of us and we want to make sure Kyle’s in the best place possible without taking any unnecessary risks. As we flagged when naming the ODI squad we see the series as a chance to provide opportunities to some new players, and Ben fits that category,” Gary Stead said as per ESPNCricinfo.

After the completion of the ODI series, New Zealand and Bangladesh will play a three-match T20I series. Kane Williamson has been recalled into the T20I side and will lead the team against Bangladesh.

Tom Latham (capt), Will Young, Tom Blundell (wk), Henry Nicholls, Mark Chapman, Josh Clarkson, Rachin Ravindra, Adithya Ashok, Jacob Duffy, Adam Milne, William O’Rourke, Ben Sears, Finn Allen (only third ODI)
