Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh opened up about the behind-the-scenes tale of how the 2011 World Cup-winning team handled pressure during their journey to the historic title victory.

The legendary all-rounder further explained that even though social media wasn't as big as it is today, back in 2011, the pressure from the media and the public was still pretty intense, as they were continuously criticizing the Indian cricket team, especially after a tough loss to South Africa.

When the legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar sensed that the team needed to regroup and refocus, the Master Blaster stepped up and called for a crucial team meeting.

Yuvraj revealed that Tendulkar asked every player to stop watching television, reading papers, and using headphones while going through crowds in airports, and it did magic for the Men in Blue in the 2011 World Cup.

As reported by Hindustan Times, Yuvraj Singh recalled, “Now, distraction is a bit more because that time there was no social media. There was distraction with media and people. We were trying to focus on the game, and in the world cup, we had lost to South Africa - a game we should have won.”

He added, “The media started to go berserk. Sachin sat down with the team and said, 'we need to stop watching television, stop reading the papers. Use our headphones when we are going through crowds in airports. Just focus on the world cup'.”

Yuvraj signed off by saying, “The team agreed, we just followed that and it really worked. Because there's anyway so much pressure. Problem with India is that, people think only Indian team will win. It's a big World Cup, there are so many good teams out there, and we got to be really focussed on your tasks at hand.”
