Shaw injured his knee while playing for Northamptonshire against Durham.
Ace Mumbai and India batter Prithvi Shaw was having a gala time in English county cricket where he had scored two back-to-back centuries for Northamptonshire in the One-Day Cup. He had first scored a record 244 against Somerset and then followed it up with 125*.
However, the right-handed opener suffered a serious knee injury while fielding in a match against Durham and it was revealed that he had a damaged PCL.
Now as per the Indian Express report, Shaw’s return to competitive cricket might take longer than previously expected as the Mumbai opener will take another three or four months to fully recover from his injury.
The report stated that the 23-year-old’s knee is still swollen and a BCCI official confirmed that he will take 3-4 months to rehabilitate completely.
“An MRI was done after he got injured and it revealed a Grade-II tear of the posterior cruciate ligament. He was sent to the NCA where we found that there was still swelling in his knee. We have decided to consult Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala in this case. It will take at least four months for him to play competitive cricket again,” a BCCI official said.
The BCCI is consulting experts to decide whether Shaw requires surgery or will heal his injured knee naturally.
Thus far, Shaw has played five Tests, six ODIs, and a lone T20I for India. He had agreed to return to Northamptonshire next year.
