Rohit also talked about what he and Kohli usually discuss both on and off the field.
In their tenure so far, India have reached the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 and the final of the World Test Championship this year.
Speaking to cricket journalist Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel, Rohit opened up on his association with Dravid, saying that he respects the latter a lot first as a person and then as a cricketer.
“I have a huge respect for him (Rahul Dravid) for what he is as a person firstly and then obviously as a cricketer. It’s because you need to be a good person first and then a cricketer, footballer, doctor, etc.," Rohit said.
“I made my debut under him, though, I didn’t play long. He doesn’t like any communication gap with any player or support staff. His first rule is to communicate," he added.
“We have an open relationship where we keep discussing things about the players or tactics," he further stated.
Rohit Sharma was appointed India’s all-format skipper after Virat Kohli relinquished T20I and Test captaincy and was sacked as ODI captain.
Rohit also talked about what he and Kohli usually discuss both on and off the field.
“During the batting, it’s about what the bowler is bowling and the conditions. When we meet series to series, we discuss regarding the opposition players. What to do and what not," he remarked.
It is being said that the next three months will define Rohit Sharma’s legacy as Indian captain. He is currently leading the team in the ongoing Asia Cup and then will captain the side in the 2023 ODI World Cup at home.
The Men in Blue have entered the Super-4 stage of the continental tournament and it will be crucial for them to lift the coveted trophy ahead of the World Cup.
