Young Indian opener Prithvi Shaw has spoken about the ‘Bazball’ batting tactics by the England team in recent times in Test cricket and said that he doesn’t fully understand what it is.

Bazball is the term that is being used to define England’s aggressive brand of game in Test cricket in recent times. Since Ben Stokes took over as the English skipper and Brendon McCullum has taken over from Chris Silverwood as the head coach, these aggressive tactics have helped the England team immensely.

Before the Ashes, England had lost only two Tests to New Zealand and South Africa, but apart from them, they dominated in every other match.

Prithvi Shaw, on the other hand, finds it hard to understand the meaning of Bazball but praised Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for his brilliant knock against England in the third Ashes Test at Headingley in Leeds.

“I don't understand what they mean when they say Bazball. I assume looking at Mitchell Marsh's bat that he's a proper Bazball cricketer. People will come out with new names. The way I play is that if I see the ball, I hit the ball,Shaw was quoted as saying in an interview with Cricbuzz.

I don't know what people will call that. Whether they call it baseball, hockey, or whatever they want to call it, at the end of the day, woh apna cricket hai (that's our sport - cricket),” he added.

Prithvi Shaw has received special permission from BCCI to skip the Deodhar Trophy and instead ply his trade in English County cricket for Northamptonshire.
