Azam Khan slammed 97 off 42 balls in Islamabad United’s win over Quetta Gladiators.
The wicketkeeper-batter came to the crease in the seventh over when Islamabad were struggling at 43/3. Azam started his onslaught on Quetta bowlers from the word go, notching up his fifty in just 29 balls.
After completing his half-century, Azam Khan went berserk and started dealing in boundaries. He was particularly severe on Mohammad Hasnain, smashing the fast bowler for three consecutive sixes in the penultimate over.
While executing the third six, Azam went down on one knee before swatting the ball on the leg side, which bounced on the roof of the stadium and went outside the ground.
It was after this shot, the camera panned to the Gladiators dressing room, where Azam’s father Moin Khan, who is the head coach of the Quetta franchise, was watching the action shell-shocked.
In another video shared by PSL on Twitter, Moin Khan was seen clapping for his son’s dazzling effort with the bat.
Azam Khan was dismissed by Odean Smith in the last delivery of Islamabad United’s innings but not before he scored 97 off 42 balls, including 9 fours and 8 sixes.
In the second half, Islamabad bowlers did a brilliant job and bundled out Quetta for 157 in 19.1 overs.
