Sarfaraz Khan, Prithvi Shaw, Dhawal Kulkarni sweep away major honours at MCA Annual Awards

Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan swept away major honours at the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) annual awards, carried out on Friday (January 6) evening. While Sarfaraz won nearly five trophies, Shaw bagged nine of them.

Sarfaraz has taken the Indian domestic circuit by storm with his batting exploits in the last two seasons. He amassed more than 900 runs in the past two editions of the Ranji Trophy – 928 in 2019-20 & 982 in 2021-22.

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, Sarfaraz is once again making a mark, registering scores of 5, 126*, 75, 20 and 162.

Taking to Instagram, the right-hander shared a picture with a table full of awards he won at the MCA event.

His awards included Shri SV Rajadyakhsa Trophy for the highest number of runs in 2021-22 & 2019-20, Dattu Phadkar award for the Ranji Cricketer of the Year 2019-20 & 2021-22, special award for fastest century in Ranji Trophy season 2021-22 among others.

Opening batter Prithvi Shaw also posted a picture with his awards on the social-photo site.

“I just want people to feel like they can achieve something great in their lives. We all go through rough times. You’ve got to believe in yourself. And if you believe, you will achieve it,” Prithvi wrote.

Veteran Mumbai pacer Dhawal Kulkarni also hogged the headlines by winning as many as 7 awards. He too uploaded a picture on Instagram and wrote, “Couldn’t be happier and Prouder! Many Thanks for this recognition @mumbaicricassoc and to my teammates.”
