New Zealand lost the first two ODIs of Chappell-Hadlee Trophy to Australia in Cairns.
The Kane Williamson-led side lost the second ODI by a whopping 113 runs margin as they were bowled out for 82, chasing 196 to win. Steve Smith’s 61 and Mitchell Starc’s 38* and 23 from Josh Hazlewood helped Australia to 195/9 in 50 overs.
Trent Boult with 4/38 and Matt Henry with 3/33 were the chief wicket-takers for New Zealand.

However, Adam Zampa’s 5/35 and two wickets apiece by Starc and Sean Abbott helped Australia win the match by 113 runs and pocket the Chappell-Hadlee trophy with one more ODI to go. New Zealand had lost the first match by 2 wickets.
As a result, England has moved to the top of the ICC ODI Team Rankings with a rating of 119 while New Zealand slipped to second with 117. Tailing them are India, Pakistan, Australia, and South Africa with 111, 107, 104, and 101 rating points respectively.
The Blackcaps, though, can tie England at 119 ratings if they win the final ODI in the series but will remain second on the basis of their inferior rating points.
