WI v IND 2022: BCCI names India ODI squad for West Indies tour; Shikhar Dhawan to captain, Ravindra Jadeja deputy

West Indies and India to play 3 ODIs in Trinidad from July 22-27.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on July 6, 2022, Wednesday, announced the Indian team squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies, as the Men in Blue prepare for the tour of the Caribbean.

The three ODIs are scheduled on July 22, July 24, and July 27 and will be played at the Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. After this, the two sides will also clash in a five-match T20I series with two of the games to be played in Florida, USA.

The Indian team will fly directly to the Caribbean from the UK after finishing their limited-overs assignments against England. Therefore, the All-India Senior Selection Committee has decided to rest some of the senior Indian team players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah amongst others for the West Indies ODIs.

Shikhar Dhawan has been named the captain of the Indian team while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will be his deputy.

Shubman Gill has earned a recall to the Indian ODI side, which also features Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Sanju Samson in the batting department. Samson and Kishan have been named as designated wicketkeepers.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Akshar Patel were named in the spin department with Jadeja.

The pacer unit features the likes of Shardul Thakur, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh.
