Kohli’s wait for his 71st international century has continued.
India batter Virat Kohli is the hottest topic to talk about among the cricket fraternity, thanks to his ongoing struggle with the bat in all three formats of the game. Well, the discussion about Kohli's form has now reached its zenith, as the dashing batter is gearing up to take on England in the rescheduled 5th Test from July 1.
It is well known to everyone that Kohli’s wait for his 71st international century has continued and for the past few years, the right-hander hasn't been seen at his best.
Amidst the talk about Kohli’s slum, former Pakistan captain and coach Misbah-ul-Haq made surprising comments on the former Indian skipper’s struggle while highlighting the valid reason behind his slump.
He said that there are not only technical issues, but Kohli also has some mental issues, while mentioning his continued attempt to play the deliveries outside the line of off-stump troubles him the most.
Speaking on the ICA Sports YouTube channel, Misbah-ul-Haq said: “Virat Kohli looks to chase outside-off deliveries a lot and has been dismissed in that manner multiple times. We can see the technical issues, but the reason why he is doing that is because of mental issues.”
Kohli is a naturally attacking batter, but Misbah feels the right-hander should play a little more conservatively to get back into his form with the bat. The Pakistani also believes that sometimes trying to dominate the bowlers because of his ego and pride proves costly for Kohli.
He signed off by saying, “He is trying to dominate the bowlers as there's an ego and pride. But somewhere he is overdoing it. He is playing more and more and the pressure is mounting on him.”
