Rohit Sharma made his India debut against Ireland on June 23, 2007.
As Rohit Sharma completed 15 years in international cricket on Thursday (June 23), the Indian captain took to social media to express his gratitude with a heart-warming post.
Notably, the right-hander made his India debut during an ODI series against Ireland on June 23, 2007, and then made his debut in T20Is in the same year in September. Now, the opener has so far played 230 ODIs and 125 T20Is, wherein he has amassed 9283 and 3313 runs, respectively.
Well, the ‘Hitman’ has now come a long way and become one of the finest cricketers of the modern era. He is now Team India captain in all three formats of the game.
Meanwhile, he wrote on Instagram: “Hello everyone, today I'll be completing 15 years of international cricket since I made my debut for India. What a journey it has been, surely one that I'll cherish for the rest of my life. I just want to thank everyone who has been a part of this journey and a special thanks for the people who helped me become the player that I am today.”
The skipper added, “To all the cricket lovers, fans, and critics your love and support for the team is what gets us over those hurdles we all inevitably come across. Thanking you, RS.”

As Rohit celebrated his 15 years in international cricket with this post, many cricketers and fans congratulated the ‘Hitman’ on the feat, and Pragyan Ojha was among them.
Wishing Rohit on the feat, the former spinner backed the Indian captain to play for another 15 years, which surprised veteran opener, Shikhar Dhawan, as he tried to pull Ojha's leg by asking him whether the Indian skipper would play till the age of 50.
Ojha had commented on Rohit's post on Instagram: "Double it up... Fella! God bless." To which Dhawan responded by saying: "Ab Double karne ke liye kya 50 tak khilwaayege usko bhai" (will he be made to play till 50 in order to double it up?).
