BCCI treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal has said that the board is investigating the matter of keeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha getting a threat from a journalist on WhatsApp and ensured strict action against the guilty party.

Saha, 37, was one of four senior players dropped from India's Test squad for the upcoming home series with Sri Lanka. Others are Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ishant Sharma.

A day later, Saha took to Twitter and shared a screenshot of a message from someone he termed "a respected journalist" in which the individual vowed never to interview Saha again and wrote 'I don't take insults kindly'.

Arun Dhumal spoke about the matter to News9live on Monday and said: "We are serious about the matter and are looking into it. First, we have to get to know who is it, what the context was and accordingly we will take action.”

BCCI to investigate journalist threat to Wriddhiman Saha; to check his claim of Ganguly assuring his selection- Report

Wriddhiman Saha, in an interview to ESPNCricinfo, had revealed that he was assured of his place in the Indian squad by the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly after he scored a gritty 61 against New Zealand in the Kanpur Test recently after taking painkillers.

He also claimed that Indian team coach Rahul Dravid was the one who broke the news to him that the selectors and team management "have been wanting to look at a new face" and "want to use this time to groom a younger wicketkeeper". And that Saha won’t be considered for the Indian team going forward.

This was later confirmed by the chairman of selectors Chetan Sharma, as Saha says, the chief told him: “From now on, you will not be considered."

Saha featured in 40 Test matches, effecting 104 dismissals and tallying 1,353 runs at an average of 29.41 per innings, with three hundreds and six half-centuries.
