Five senior doctors at Woodlands Hospital keeping close watch on Ganguly's health.
Woodlands Hospital issued a statement that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly is currently hemodynamically stable after having received Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail Therapy, used for the treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in high-risk patients.
Ganguly is double-vaccinated and has traveled extensively while serving as BCCI President, participating in all professional activities. He was admitted to the hospital late on Monday night (December 27) as a precautionary measure after his RT-PCR test returned positive.
This is the third time the 49-year-old has been hospitalized this year, as he underwent a right coronary angioplasty earlier in January, and after two weeks, two stents were placed in two of his arteries, and now he is hospitalized after being tested positive for COVID-19.
In a press statement on Wednesday, December 29, the Woodlands Hospital, Kolkata said that Ganguly is currently hemodynamically stable.
The official release said: “On the second day of admission, Sourav Ganguly, BCCI president, and former India captain, is hemodynamically stable, afebrile, and maintaining oxygen saturation of 99 percent on room air. He slept well last night and has had breakfast and lunch.”
It concluded, “The medical board comprising Dr. Saroj Mondal, Dr. Saptarshi Basu, and Dr. Soutik Panda is keeping a close watch on his health status.”
Notably, West Bengal has been recording 400 to 500 new cases of COVID-19 infection on a daily basis, and Kolkata continues to report the highest number of cases, with 204 new infections in the past 24 hours. West Bengal also recorded about six cases of the Omicron variant.
