Popular commentator Harsha Bhogle has opined on the ongoing Virat Kohli- BCCI-Sourav Ganguly controversy and said that this mess puts India head coach Rahul Dravid in a pickle and it will test the man-management skills of the former captain-turned-coach.

With Virat Kohli contradicting BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly’s claims of stopping him from quitting as T20I captain and saying that none of the BCCI officials approached him about it and nor was he informed in advance about the decision to make Rohit Sharma the new ODI captain; things have become confusing with new reports and rumors sprouting each day.

In a series of tweets, Bhogle pointed out how this apparent face-off between Kohli and Ganguly makes Dravid's task of winning a Test series in South Africa a lot more complicated.

BCCI will deal with it appropriately- Ganguly on Kohli’s explosive revelations on ODI captaincy

It should never come down to one person's word vs another, especially when they have been giants of Indian cricket. Hence, two way, open lines of communication. Helps conflicts to be resolved internally rather than in public. In a face-off one person has to lose, and that is never good. It presents Rahul Dravid with a ticklish situation and his man management skills will be tested because to win in South Africa, he needs his captain and best batsman to be happy and positive,” Harsha wrote in the first couple of tweets.

Bhogle also said that while the ongoing feud between Kohli and BCCI is providing lots of content to newspapers and websites, it is not good for the psyche of the team which is aiming to win its first Test series in South Africa since 1992.

Conflicts are box-office but detrimental to teams. Eventually, the Indian cricket team has to be strong. Drawing conclusions in the public domain is hazardous when we don't know the whole truth. I speak from experience,” he wrote in the third tweet.

With only Test captaincy left to him, Kohli would now like to focus everything on beating Dean Elgar’s South Africa in their own backyard.
