Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne shouting 'no run' after defending or leaving a delivery has become very common now. But during the opening day of the second Ashes Test, he surprised the viewers with his self appreciatory shout.

After Labuschagne ducked a short-pitched delivery by England's Ben Stokes, he stood up and praised himself. "Well played Marnus," he said which left the commentators in splits.

In past, Labuschagne has grabbed attention for his unique leaves which are very similar to the stand-in captain of Australia Steve Smith, whom he idolizes. Interestingly, he had replaced Smith during the second Test at Lord's in the 2019 Ashes to become the first concussion substitute in cricket.

In the ongoing Day-Night Test, the 27-year-old put up a 172-run stand with opener David Warner after Australia lost Marcus Harris early in their innings on Thursday (December 16). Although England managed to stop the flow of runs, they couldn't pick up wickets in the second session of Day 1.

Australia, after deciding to bat first at the toss in the pink-ball Test, scored 180/2 by the end of 65 overs. Labuschagne was unbeaten on 72, while Warner (95) was dismissed in the 90's for the second time in the series.

The hosts are being led by Steve Smith in the absence of Pat Cummins, who had to miss the match after coming in close contact with a COVID-19 positive case.
