BCCI sacked Virat Kohli as ODI captain and made Rohit Sharma new skipper.
Virat Kohli's IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) paid rich tribute to him after his stint as the Team India ODI captain came to an end, after the BCCI in a surprise announcement unveiled Rohit Sharma as the new full-time white-ball skipper.
Rohit Sharma recently became the India T20I captain after Kohli stepped down after India's disastrous T20 World Cup 2021 campaign, as per his announcement before the ICC tournament.

There were many speculations about Virat Kohli’s future as an ODI captain after he stepped down as a T20I skipper as many felt that having different skippers in two limited-overs formats won't work.
After the BCCI made their announcement, the fans on social media went berserk and gave mixed reactions. While many felt that it was the right decision and paid tribute to Virat Kohli on his fabulous stint as an ODI skipper, some were against the decision, saying that it was a harsh call by the governing body.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took to their official Twitter handle and applauded Virat Kohli for leading Team India through an ‘emphatic and aggressive era in white-ball cricket’.
"Thank you Captain Virat Kohli for leading Team India through an emphatic and aggressive era in white-ball cricket! Your brand of cricket will be a template for the future to follow,” RCB Tweeted.
Notably, Virat Kohli is the fourth most successful captain in the ODIs with 65 wins from 95 games under his belt to go with a win percentage of 70.43, which is the highest among all Indian skippers with a minimum of 10 games.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has so far led Team India in 10 ODIs, winning eight games including the Asia Cup 2018.
