Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja became the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently. Ramiz, while addressing the club presidents in Pakistan, stated that he won't take salary for his service as PCB chairman.

"I have come to this cricket board without any salary. I won’t get a single penny for the next three years. I have sacrificed my ongoing career to take up this post. The car that I own is a 2008 model one.

"I don’t regret the fact that I don’t own a big house or a fancy car or money. Many a time, you need to play an innings for the honor," said Raja.

Pakistan's ex-speedster Mohammad Amir questioned back Ramiz on Twitter and claimed that the chairman of PCB receives other benefits, if not salary.

"Me ne jahan tak suna hai PCB k chairman ki monthly pay ni hoti but benefits hote hain might b m wrong suna to esa hi hai (what I have heard is that the PCB chairman does not have a monthly payment but there are benefits might be wrong but that is what I have heard)," he tweeted in Urdu.

Amir isn't active as a Pakistan cricketer currently and he had announced his retirement in December 2020, citing unfair treatment by the management. He openly criticized the then coaching staff of Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis for his untimely retirement.
