Jason Holder hopes for a strong comeback on day 4 against Pakistan at Sabina Park.
West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder heaped praise on Pakistan’s middle-order batsman Fawad Alam for the way he batted in tricky conditions in the ongoing second and final Test at Sabina Park in Jamaica.
Fawad played a brilliant knock of 124* off 213 balls laced with 17 fours to take Pakistan to 302 in the first inning before Shaheen Shah Afridi (2 wickets) and Faheem Ashraf (one wicket) put the tourists in the driver's seat against the West Indies on Sunday, August 22.
With West Indies’ score reads 39/3 at stump on Day 2, Holder said Fawad showed the hosts that how can a batsman apply himself on a tricky wicket at Sabina Park, Jamaica.
Holder said after the day's play: “I think it's a new ball wicket. If you can get past the new ball with little damage, it's a very good track to bat on. Fawad obviously showed us how to apply ourselves. Fawad was very, very patient. In these kinds of situations trying to see off a day becomes quite tricky for batters, and the new ball will definitely count in these kinds of conditions.”
However, the senior all-rounder expects the pitch at Sabina Park to become even when the West Indies come out to bat on Monday (August 23) against Pakistan.
Holder signed off by saying, “I expect tomorrow when the sun comes out and everything is pretty much even, the pitch should level off and settle down.”
