England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the remainder of the white-ball series against Sri Lanka.

Buttler, who scored unbeaten 68 runs in England’s win in the first T20I against Sri Lanka, sustained a right calf injury during the same match at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Wednesday (23rd June) following which he went for an MRI scan, which revealed a small tear.

The swashbuckling batsman will now return home and begin his rehabilitation programme. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed about the same.

"Buttler felt tightness and discomfort at the end of the game after a match-winning 68 not out secured an eight-wicket win. He will return home today and commence his rehabilitation programme,” ECB said in a statement.

Dawid Malan will replace Jos Buttler in England's ODI squad for the series against Sri Lanka. The Eoin Morgan-led side clinched the three-match T20I series 2-0 with a five-wicket victory over visitors on Thursday with the third T20I scheduled to be played on 26th June.

The ODI series between the nations will start in Chester-le-Street on June 29.
