India's fast bowler Ishant Sharma got multiple stitches after a gash sustained on his right hand during the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final. He got injured while trying to stop a drive by Ross Taylor off his own bowling against New Zealand, just before the conclusion of the match.
A senior BCCI official has confirmed PTI that Ishant's injury is not very serious and he is expected to recover before the five-Test series against England. There is enough time for the Test series which is starting on August 4 and the pacer will likely to get fully fit.

"Ishant has had multiple stitches on his middle and fourth finger in his right hand. However it is not very serious," a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
"The stitches will be off in around 10 days and with six weeks left for the first Test against England, he is expected to recover in time."
After the conclusion of the WTC final, the Indian cricket team have traveled to London from Southampton. The players and staff members will get 20 days off from cricket after being in the bio-bubble for so long.
"The squad traveled together to London. From here they can all leave for their respective destinations within the UK for a 20-day break," the official said.
Team India players were quarantined in Mumbai before flying to the United Kingdom. Most of the players were also part of the Indian Premier League before where they had to stay in the bio-secure bubble.
"Some of them are tennis fans and if Wimbledon allows spectators, you might see them going for some of the show court matches. A few might be checking out if tickets for the Euro games at Wembley are available," the source said.
The players will assemble in London on July 14 and then travel to the venue for the first Test against England, Nottingham.
