Team India, led by Ajinkya Rahane, had presented a signed jersey to Nathan Lyon on his 100th Test.
New Zealand's Ross Taylor joked about Team India presenting a signed jersey to Australia's spinner Nathan Lyon on the occasion of him completing 100 Tests earlier this year. It was Ajinkya Rahane-led side who had given Lyon the signed jersey after winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.
Taylor, on The Grade Cricketer podcast, said that he did not get a similar honor when he had played his 100th Test, also against India, last year. He had become the 4th New Zealand player to feature in 100 Tests after Stephen Fleming, Daniel Vettori, and Brendon McCullum.

“I played India in my 100th Test last year, and I didn’t get a shirt. I’m a bit jealous of Nathan. We played a couple of series before, and I’m watching the game and I’m watching him (Lyon) getting a shirt and I’m like ‘Aaah, okay!’”, he said.
The 37-year-old was gifted 100 bottles of wine by the New Zealand Cricket board before the start of the match as he became the first player in history to play hundred matches in all three formats of international cricket.
Taylor called Rahane a great ambassador of the game for his heart-warming gesture. He had also invited the Afghanistan team to join India in team photograph after their first-ever Test match, which Afghanistan had lost.
“I played with Rahane in Rajasthan Royals, he is a fantastic ambassador for the game of cricket,” Taylor said.
