Shakib was banned for three matches and fined BDT 5 lakh by the BCB.
Ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been banned for 3 matches along with a fine of Bangladesh Taka 5 lacs for his unruly outbursts during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL 2021) match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited.
During the recent T20 clash, Shakib was caught on camera, kicking the stumps, knocking the bails off, and aggressively arguing with the on-field umpire a couple of times after a few decisions went against him during the DPL 2021 game on Friday (June 11).
The veteran cricketer lost his cool with the match officials, as he kicked at the stumps in anger when his lbw appeal was turned down by Imran Parvez, and then rushed towards the umpire, ripped out the stumps, and hurled them to the ground.
This happened when umpire Mahfuzur Rahman signaled for the covers to be brought on as when the rain started on. He also involved in a scuffle with the Abahani coach Khaled Mahmud who is also the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director.

Reacting to the on-field drama, the BCB Chief Nazmul Hassan announced that they have set up a committee to investigate allegations of biased umpiring in the ongoing T20 tournament since Shakib’s outburst has spread so much globally and he is getting non-stop calls from all over the world.
Hassan told Jamuna TV on Sunday (June 13): “It (Shakib’s outburst) has spread so much internationally. I am getting non-stop calls from all over the world. This is extremely insulting for Bangladesh. I think there’s no point in playing domestic cricket until and unless we find out the solution. It has reached an extreme point. It has ruined all the good work we have done.”
However, the BCB chief has insisted that the board didn’t receive any formal complaints about biased umpiring from the clubs or their players, but he had formed a committee to speak to the 12 clubs and go into details of the problems confronting them following the Shakib’s incident.

He further explained, “They haven’t shown me anything as proof. I am only seeing documents signed by managers and captains from matches.
There’s no complaint from anyone, so who will give me the allegations? I have still asked them to find out what’s going on. Matches are being recorded now. It is not just hearsay. We will definitely take action.”
Hassan signed off by saying, “I am not in favor of running domestic cricket until I find a solution. We have to solve the problem first. We hear from people, from the media, and on Facebook that everything is pre-planned.
If that’s so, there is no point running these games, that too during Covid, and spending one million dollars as an additional cost for the bio-bubble.”
