The 2021-22 Ashes between Australia and England is likely to start from December 9 with the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Sydney not hosting the finale of the iconic Test series for the first time since 1995 while Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth are other venues for the series.

According to a report in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, the final Ashes Test will not be staged in Sydney for the first time in 26 years as the fifth and final Test match between Australia and England is likely to be hosted by Perth from January 14, 2022.

The Ashes 2021-2022 opening Test will be played at the Gabba in Brisbane while Adelaide will host the second Test, which will be a day-night fixture between the two giants of Test cricket.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne and Sydney will host the third and fourth Test respectively before the two teams move to Perth for the final Ashes Test on January 14, 2022.

Meanwhile, the reports suggested that Cricket Australia will announce the schedule for the forthcoming Ashes next week.

It is also being said that England cricketers will be given an exemption to enter Australia for the Ashes come the winter for the quarantine period, but there are fewer chances for the English supporters to travel the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The reports also claimed that the Australian government will also shut its international borders until at least the middle of next year to save the country from the Coronavirus outbreak.

Australia will lock horns with Afghanistan in a one-off Test in Hobart in late November this year – which will also act as a warm-up fixture for the current holders of the Ashes going into the Ashes 2021-2022.

Following the Test series against England, Australia is scheduled to play a white-ball series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand that will stretch into February.
