Indian pacer Umesh Yadav got his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The fast bowler took to his official Twitter account and shared the news and attached pictures of him while getting vaccinated.
Umesh Yadav further urged people to get vaccinated when they get an opportunity.
“Vaccination done. A big thank you to all our health care workers and I urge everyone to get vaccinated when you get the opportunity,” Umesh Yadav Tweeted.
Earlier Indian cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane got their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Speaking to ANI, a BCCI official said that vaccination is open for all above the age of 18 and all the players can take it. He further added that BCCI is working with ECB to ensure that the Indian contingent will get their second dose in England.

"The Indian government has opened vaccination for every person above 18 so the players can take their first dose. But the second dose is the question here and while the BCCI is looking at working closely with the England and Wales cricket board to ensure players can get a second dose in the UK if that is not approved by the UK government, we will have the vaccine taken from India for the second dose. Let's see how that works out in the coming days," a BCCI official told ANI.
BCCI recently announced the 20-member squad for the World Test Championship final and the five-Test series against England post that.
Umesh Yadav was named in the 20-member squad and with seaming conditions in England, the pacer could play a big role for Virat Kohli-led side when they take New Zealand in the WTC final and then later on England in the five-test series.
