Akmal has to pay a fine of 4.25 million rupees to resume playing cricket.
The Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal was earlier banned by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for breaching some clauses of the ICC Anti-corruption code and is supposed to pay 4.25 million Pakistani rupees as a fine before he can play again. PCB has rejected Akmal’s plea to pay his fine in installments due to financial struggles.
According to reports, the board had asked the right-hand batsman to submit taxation and other documents to prove his current financial status after Umar pleaded his case with the board.
“The PCB was not satisfied with Umar's argument that he was facing financial difficulties at the moment after it had studied his documents. The Pakistan batsman also did not submit all documents asked for by the board,” a well-informed source said.

It is also understood that the Lahore-based batsman has to pay his fine in full and until that time he can’t resume his cricket career and start the rehabilitation process which is mandatory for all banned players under the anti-corruption code.
PCB’s disciplinary panel found Akmal guilty last April, on two charges of separate breaches and handed him a three-year suspension with the periods of ineligibility to run concurrently. But, the Court of Arbitration for Sport has reduced the ban on Umar Akmal to 12 months but hit him with a fine of Rs 4.25 million.
A source close to the 30-year-old has revealed that the player is indeed facing financial problems as he had to spend a lot of money on lawyers in the case in which he had appealed for the entire ban to be dismissed.
