Akhtar said Misbah will be sacked as Pakistan head coach soon.
Former Pakistani bowler Shoaib Akhtar has on Wednesday (January 13) again launched an attack on Pakistan team's head coach Misbah-Ul-Haq after a recent poor tour of New Zealand, saying his sacking is on the cards and zimbabwe's Andy Flower will replace him soon at the national side.
Pakistan suffered a whitewash in a two-Test series while managed to win only one T20I of the three-match T20I series in New Zealand – which was Misbah’s third poor overseas tour after Australia and England under his tenure as Pakistan head coach.
Following the continued disappointment, many former Pakistan cricketers criticized Misbah’s coaching and now Shoaib has targeted Misbah by claiming Flower will “take over the job once Pakistan Super League 2021 gets over” since the Zimbabwean is currently the coach of Multan Sultans in the PSL.
Akhtar on his YouTube channel: “I am telling you the decision to sack Misbah has been made, Andy Flower will be replacing him. Andy Flower is currently not accepting the offer as he is the coach of Multan Sultans in the PSL. He will take over the job once PSL gets over.”
Former Pakistan pacer further added, “PCB's cricket committee can do nothing, they just talk nonsense, just leave them. Committee has decided to give Misbah a chance, but the truth is, Misbah will be asked to leave. Waqar Younis is being asked to work under Misbah, it's nonsense.”
He continued, “Talking about Misbah, PCB brings in average people so that entire blame can be put on the person and then PCB decides to ask that said person to leave. PCB is very clever, they have been doing this for 20-25 years, they keep on bringing average people.”
Akhtar signed off by saying, “Pakistan will next take on South Africa, I am telling you if Pakistan does not create spinning tracks, the visiting team will score 500 every time. Defeating South Africa is the only chance Misbah has, I am telling you the contract with Andy Flower has been sealed.”
Noteworthy, Pakistan Cricket Board Cricket Committee had recently a meeting joined by the PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan and Director - International Cricket, Zakir Khan, committee chairman Saleem Yousuf as well as Misbah-Ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.
In the meeting at the Gaddafi Stadium, the committee analyzed and reviewed the performance of the Pakistan cricket team over the past 16 months during the time, they have played 10 Tests (won two and lost five), five ODIs (won four), and 17 T20Is (won seven and lost eight).
