Afghanistan to host Ireland for 3 ODIs in January 2021

Afghanistan will host international cricket for the first time ever.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has given a piece of positive news on Ireland's 3-match ODI series against the hosts, which will be held for the first time ever in Afghanistan.

The bilateral series will begin on 18 January 2021 and the next two matches will be played on January 21 and 23 respectively. The ACB tweeted that the series will be a part of the ongoing ODI Super League for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

ACB wrote, "Afghanistan will host @Irelandcricket for a three-match ODI series in January 2021. The matches which are scheduled to be held on 18th, 21st and 23rd January respectively, are part of the ODI Super League for the 2023 ICC World Cup."

Afghanistan has faced Ireland in 27 ODI matches so far and has won 13 of them. They also have lost 13 while the remaining one game could not produce a result. They will be excited to host their rivals at home and would like to edge forward in the head to head battles.

In other news regarding the progress of the game in Afghanistan, ACB has contracted 25 women cricketers and is keen on building a strong Afghanistan Women's Cricket Team.
