Former India batsman Suresh Raina has relayed his thanks to Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh and the Punjab police for nabbing three assailants who robbed his relative’s house in Pathankot on August 31, which resulted in the death of his uncle Ashok Kumar and cousin Kaushal.

Raina’s aunt Asha Rani remains in critical condition in the hospital. Two others injured in the attack had been discharged from the hospital.

Punjab CM had announced that the case of attack and murder involving Raina’s kin has been solved with the arrest of three members of an inter-state gang of robber-criminals. This attack on his relatives was cited as one of the reasons for Suresh Raina pulling out of IPL 2020.

"This morning in Punjab,I met the investigating officers who reportedly have napped three criminals. I truly appreciate all their efforts. Our loss can’t be recovered but this will surely prevent further crimes to happen. Thank you @PunjabPoliceInd @capt_amarinder for all the help," Raina tweeted.

The CM had ordered the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under IGP Border Range Amritsar, with SSP Pathankot, SP Investigation, and DSP Dhar Kalan as its members, to investigate the case.

The SIT, during the investigation, gathered all the circumstantial and physical evidence related to the case (FIR No. 153 dt. 20.08.2020 U/S 460/459/ 458 IPC PS Shapur Kandi, with Section 302, 307, 148, 149 IPC added by the SIT during the investigation). More than 100 suspected persons were joined in the investigation, according to the DGP.
