The 2007 World T20 win was a path changer for the Indian team, much like the World Cup 1983  victory was. If the Indian viewers, officials, and players accepted ODI cricket after 1983 win, they embraced the T20 format after 2007.

The Indian team was a young one led by MS Dhoni for the first time and had Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Virender Sehwag in name of experience. It featured the likes of Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, RP Singh, Sreesanth, and many more who were making their initial splashes in international cricket.

"Rohit bhaiya, you are cute," Chahal finds 'female' version of Rohit Sharma beautiful; fans react

For Rohit, it was a brilliant tournament, where he played some important knocks, especially against South Africa in a must-win game, where he scored a half-century. India got immense support in Durban, where they were based and this is what egged them on as they took on bigger and better teams in the tournament.

You never realize you’re playing for the Indian cricket team until you witness the support of the fans,” Rohit said on the Cricket Connected Show on Star Sports.

He even retells the events after India beat Australia in the semi-finals of the tournament and set a date with rivals Pakistan in the final.

I still remember when we won against Australia in the semi-final in 2007, our hotel was full of fans and they were all celebrating and dancing, I couldn’t believe my eyes as I hadn’t seen anything like this before. You always see fans in the stadium but that day at the hotel, seeing all of those supporters, I felt that it is the fans’ passion and love that keeps the team going,” he said.
