Rohit holds quite a few world records to his name in white-ball cricket. He is the proud owner of the highest individual ODI score – 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014. Moreover, he is the only batsman in the history of cricket to have scored three ODI double tons and four Twenty20 international centuries.
Primarily known for his batting exploits, Sharma was also a handy bowler at the start of his cricketing career. In fact, he has claimed a hat-trick in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2009 before finger injury forced him to give up on bowling.
On Monday (May 11), Rohit featured on Star Sports’ brand-new show ‘Cricket Connected: Chats’ to discuss cricket with the fans.
The 33-year-old spoke on several topics and discussed in length about his bowling and finger injury.
“I miss my bowling! Since I injured my finger, I’m unable to grip the ball and I can’t bowl the way I used to. Wankhede’s pitch doesn’t give me a chance to bowl, so I stay away from it,” he said.
The swashbuckling batsman further added that he tries to bowl at least 10 overs while playing Test cricket.
“In Tests, I try to bowl because that gives bowlers a break. To help the team, I mentally prepare myself to bowl 10 overs in a Test match,” Rohit, who has played 32 Tests so far, stated.
In International cricket, Rohit Sharma has picked up 11 wickets, with eight of them coming in the 50-over format.
