Australia is to host the ICC T20 World Cup in September.
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, international cricket had come to a standstill as all the cricketing activities were suspended all over the world. After the Indian Premier League was postponed indefinitely, questions were being raised about the 2020 Men’s T20 World Cup’s future.
But, the International Cricket Council (ICC) in their recent announcements made it clear that they are not in a hurry to take a call on whether the tournament will be postponed or will it be staged as scheduled.
“We are continuing with our planning for ICC events as they are, but given the rapidly evolving situation as a prudent and responsible measure we are also undertaking a comprehensive contingency planning exercise,” an ICC spokesperson was quoted as saying by SkySport.

The spokesperson then told about ICC exploring all available options and that the decision will be taken at an appropriate time after consulting with experts.
“This includes exploring all options available to us based on a range of scenarios connected to the pandemic. We will continue to take advice from experts and authorities, including the Australian government and will take decisions at the appropriate time,” he said.
“We will utilize all the data and information available to us to ensure we can make well-informed, responsible decisions that are in the best interests of our sport.”
Former Australia skipper Allan Border and current all-rounder Glenn Maxwell have already made their stand clear about having a tournament without spectators by giving this idea a thumbs down.
While, former batsman Simon Katich and wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey, on the other hand, feel postponing the event remains as an option.
