Mohammad Nabi says that it feels great to share the Man of the Match record with Virat Kohli

The Afghanistan all-rounder Nabi can't wait to play against Virat Kohli in T20Is.

India skipper Virat Kohli was the star for his team in the first T20I against West Indies at Hyderabad. He had won the Man-of-the-Match award for his 50-ball 94. The award was his 12th in T20I which is joint highest with Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi. On the second, Pakistan's Shahid Afridi is standing with 11 awards.

The Afghanistan all-rounder Nabi is delighted to share the record with such a big name of cricket. Speaking to Asian Age, the 35-year-old said, "it is a great feeling to share the record with the world's top batsman and I am very proud of it".

Nabi is aware that it is tough to compete with Kohli and he may lose the race in upcoming matches. India has a lot more T20Is lined-up.

"Look, India has been playing so many matches. World's all teams want to play against India. Whereas our team has limited opportunities to play against all teams at regular intervals and this will enable Kohli to surpass the record soon", added Nabi.

The veteran Afghanistan cricketer is excited to play against Kohli. "I don't know when I will get a chance against Kohli to play...maybe in the World Cup or the Asia Cup", Nabi said.

Nabi, who doesn't play Test cricket any more, feels in the limited-overs format it is tough to play eyeing the awards. "Getting Player of the Match in any format is a good recognition, though in Test matches more players get a chance as the Test marches are played for five days. In limited over games all players may not get the opportunity to compete for the award", he said.
