MS Dhoni has not played cricket since 2019 World Cup exit.
The senior MS Dhoni has not played for India since the 2019 World Cup semifinal and it seems that he won’t be in contention atleast until January 2020. Even the MSK Prasad led selection panel had said that they are backing Rishabh Pant and have moved on from the two-time World Cup-winning former skipper.

Virat Kohli owes Dhoni a lot given that the Jharkhand man groomed Kohli for the captaincy and stepped down gracefully when the time came for the Delhiite to take over the reins.
Meanwhile, Kohli also has great respect for Dhoni which was seen in a heartfelt message on Twitter where he wished him on his birthday this year and said that he will always remain his captain. This tweet went insanely viral and Twitter India recently revealed that it became the most retweeted sports-related tweet of the year 2019.
Here is what Virat tweeted for Dhoni, "Happy birthday mahi bhai @msdhoni. Very few people understand the meaning of trust and respect and I'm glad to have had the friendship I have with you for so many years. You've been a big brother to all of us and as I said before, you will always be my captain ????"
Twitter India posted, "In the world of sports, this Tweet from @imVkohli stole people's hearts ????becoming the most Retweeted sports-related Tweet"
