“When he was five-year-old, I lost my husband,” she recalled. Jasprit joined in and said, “After that we couldn't afford anything. I had one pair of shoes. I used to have one pair of T-shirts. I used to wash them every day and use it again and again. So, as a child you know you hear stories that sometimes these things happen that some people come and watch you and you get picked up like this. But it actually happened.”
His mother also talked about how happy she was seeing him play in the IPL on TV and actually started crying.
She said, “The first time when I saw him on that IPL match on TV, I couldn't stop crying. He has seen me struggle financially and physically also.”
The 25-year-old is now ranked No. 1 in ICC ODI Bowler Rankings since March 2019. However, currently he is out of action and is treating his lower back stress fracture in London.
