CWC 2019: COC Predicted Team India squad for ICC World Cup 2019

CWC 2019: COC Predicted Team India squad for ICC World Cup 2019

Team India have been World Champions in 1983 and 2011.

By Jatin Sharma - 12 Apr, 2019

The ICC World Cup 2019 will commence on May 30 with hosts England taking on South Africa. The quadrennial ICC event is one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world and something that every cricket fan looks out for every four years.

This year, 10 teams will be vying for a chance to be called World Champions and two-time winners’ Indian team are considered to be one of the front runners to becoming title holders. Team India has won the World Cup in 1983, beating West Indies in the finals under the captaincy of Kapil Dev and in 2011, beating Sri Lanka in the finals, at home, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

This year though, the Indian team will participate under the leadership of Virat Kohli, who will be playing his third World Cup and will have veteran MS Dhoni for the company, who at the age of 38, will be playing his fourth tournament. The Indian squad for the ICC World Cup 2019 will be announced on April 15 and keeping that in consideration, Team COC presents to you the Predicted Team India squad for the World Cup

Here is the COC predicted Indian Team squad for the ICC World Cup

Openers- Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul
The opening combination for Team India has been the same since Rohit Sharma was promoted to open with Shikhar Dhawan by then captain MS Dhoni and the duo have gone onto making record after record since then. Rohit and Dhawan compliment each other as Dhawan is usually the one going after the bowling in the powerplay overs and Rohit takes his time to get set and then let loose on the bowlers.

As their backup, KL Rahul is the best possible option to open for the team in case either of Rohit or Dhawan experience a dip in form during the tournament. Rahul has been at his best while opening the innings and should be played at that position.

Middle Order – Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rishabh Pant, Kedar Jadhav

The middle order of the Indian team must be the strongest one given that it has the experience and numbers with the likes of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni leading the charge. Both have more than 10,000 runs in ODI cricket and a combination of over 50 centuries in the format. They will have some big hitting prowess to assist them with likes of Rishabh Pant and Kedar Jadhav coming into propelling the team to a big score. Jadhav also ensures some overs to assist the spinners.

All-rounders – Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya

Every team loves to have all-rounders in their team as they give you the value of two players in one. Indian team must also include such players and they have the variety to go for as well. If Hardik Pandya and Vijay Shankar provide the options of medium pace bowling and hard-hitting powers towards the end of the innings; Ravindra Jadeja provides the guile of left-arm spin to go with some decent ability to hit huge shots in the end.

Spinners- Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav

The Indian team management had to turn to Chahal and Kuldeep after their senior spinners failed in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and since then the duo has brought limited overs victories in South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia to go with success at home.

Fast bowlers- Mohammad Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah

Indian selectors must go with fast bowlers who are fit and in-form for such a big-ticket tournament and who better than Mohammad Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.

Bumrah has turned from a hot-blooded rookie in 2016 to a matured wicket-taker in 2019. Bhuvneshwar loves England where his swing and seam bowling gives him rich dividends. Mohammad Shami is probably the best bowler once he gains his rhythm and has made a huge comeback in the ODI team in 2019, after missing out of white ball action for a long time.

Team India start their ICC World Cup campaign on June 6 against South Africa and will face arch-rivals Pakistan on June 16.
