Virat Kohli to takeover captaincy from the second T20I vs Ireland.

As per reports, India’s vice-captain in limited overs format, Rohit Sharma will be captaining the Indian team against Ireland in the first of the two T20I matches in Dublin.

This due to the fact that Virat Kohli will not be available for the first match in the series due to his commitments to his county side Surrey. With the county club confirming that the India captain will be playing Yorkshire fixture – from June 25 to 28 - he is all set to miss the first game against Ireland.

If we had named a separate captain for the first T20I, and Kohli for the second match, it would have led to more confusion. Obviously, Rohit Sharma would lead in the first game and Kohli will be back for the next,” a source told Mirror.

Surrey’s Yorkshire fixture is scheduled to be played from June 25 to 28. Yorkshire has Cheteshwar Pujara in their ranks, which will draw more attention as two Indian players will be playing in opposite teams.

Kohli will have to rush to Ireland to play for India, as he will land in Ireland in the night hours, covering a distance of 501 KM, to play the second T20I very next evening. Rohit Sharma will hand over the captaincy to him for the second T20I to be played on June 29.

Rohit Sharma has led India in four T20Is and three ODIs.
