Harshit Rana to miss England ODIs and Varun Chakaravarthy ruled out Zimbabwe T20Is due to injury; BCCI names replacements

India will play three ODIs against England and three T20Is against Zimbabwe.

Pacer Harshit Rana will miss the upcoming England ODI series and spinner Varun Chakravarthy will not be part of the Indian squad for the three-match T20I series in Zimbabwe, the BCCI confirmed on July 12, 2026.

India and England are set to play three matches starting July 14 in Birmingham, July 16 in Cardiff and July 19 at Lord’s. On the other hand, the T20I series will be played in Harare on July 23, 25, and 26.

Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy both played three games each in the England T20Is. Rana took 3 wickets, while Varun took one wicket. Both players were ruled out of the series before the fourth T20I was set to begin.

It was reported that both Harshit Rana and Varun had suffered hamstring injuries and might not take part in the series further.

And on July 12, 2026, BCCI confirmed that both the bowlers will not be available for the England ODIs and Zimbabwe T20Is. The Indian board also confirmed that Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi are replacements for Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy in India's ODI and T20I squads, respectively.

Rana reported a sudden onset of discomfort in his right hamstring during the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge. Subsequent scans revealed a Grade 1 hamstring injury. He has been ruled out of the forthcoming ODI series against England and will report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) for further assessment and management.

Chakaravarthy also reported a sudden onset of discomfort in his left hamstring during the third T20I against England. An MRI scan subsequently revealed a Grade 2 hamstring injury. Based on specialist medical advice, he has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe. He will report to the BCCI COE for further management,” the BCCI statement read.

Prince Yadav played 3 T20Is in England and took 2 wickets, while Ravi Bishnoi played two games and didn’t pick a single wicket.
