Former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes shared his observations about Rohit Sharma and lavished rich praise on the ex-India captain. From 2009 to 2017, Jonty Rhodes served as the Mumbai Indians' (MI) IPL fielding coach. He disclosed that he had the best job because it allowed him to observe Rohit Sharma train.

While he reflected that Rohit did not have a gifted superior talent, it was his approach and consistency that got him success.

"I keep telling journalists I had the best job in the world. I got to watch Rohit Sharma practice. He would like to walk through the middle and feel it, rather than have a massive workout session. He just makes it look way too easy. He's not born with superior talent, but the consistency in approach, he's always been like that," Rhodes said on Prakhar Gupta's YouTube channel.

Rhodes discussed Rohit's leadership style and how it hasn't changed over time. He continued by saying that although he was different from Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni, he had the same personality as a leader.

"His leadership style has been the same. He's actually very funny. He's got some great chirps on the stump mic, and he gives his teammates a hard time. That personality has been throughout. It goes back to that. You don't have to be an MS Dhoni or a Virat. You just have to be yourself. They're all so different, all three and successful because they have consistency," he reflected.

Rohit Sharma was a very successful captain, having won two ICC Trophies for India and five IPL trophies for the Mumbai Indians during his tenure.

Additionally, Jonty Rhodes likened Rohit Sharma to batter KL Rahul, a colleague. Both guys, in his opinion, made batting appear simple. He said that the 39-year-old had seamless timing and was entertaining to watch, even though he acknowledged that Rahul was the more attractive athlete.

"Rohit is a bit like KL Rahul. Makes it look so easy. But Rohit is not the greatest-looking athlete compared to KL. But when he hits the ball with effortless timing, it is captivating when you watch him bat,” he stated.

Rohit Sharma has made 16 and 48 in the first two ODIs in the ongoing three-match series between India and Afghanistan.
