The IPL 2025 triumph was a dream come true for RCB stalwart Virat Kohli.
The 2025 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) culminated last week, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinching their maiden title by beating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final.
The triumph marked RCB’s 18-year long trophy drought, and was also a dream come true for star batter Virat Kohli, who has been associated with the franchise since its inception.
In the aftermath of RCB’s historic win, former Australia skipper Michael Clarke expressed his confidence in Kohli’s participation in the next IPL season.
Clarke also endorsed the return of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) icon MS Dhoni and Mumbai Indians (MI) stalwart Rohit Sharma.
“I think MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play in next year’s IPL. MS Dhoni is massive. Every time Chennai plays, even in away games, there are more Chennai fans than any other fan. Sponsors, they are there because of MS Dhoni. The fans, they are there because of MS Dhoni," Clarke was quoted as saying on Beyond23 Cricket Podcast.
“He is the king of that franchise. They want him to keep playing and I don’t think people realise the impact. When he decides to retire, it will be a huge loss to the franchise," he added.
It is worth mentioning here that both Rohit and Kohli announced their retirement from Test cricket last month. They had called time on their T20I careers last year and will now participate solely in the ODI format.
On the other hand, Dhoni faced severe backlash as CSK finished at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table, prompting many cricket fans and experts to suggest that the 43-year-old should retire.
