Delhi Capitals now has 10 points from 6 games in IPL 2025.
On April 16, the Delhi Capitals (DC) hosted the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Arun Jaitley Stadium for the 32nd match of the ongoing IPL 2025. The match was another close one, with batters from both teams performing admirably despite the lack of high scores.
The Rajasthan Royals captain, Sanju Samson, won the toss and elected to bowl first. Jake Fraser-McGurk and Karun Nair were fired for cheap. Abishek Poral led Delhi's scoring with 49 runs, including five fours and one six. However, DC's score was boosted by KL Rahul's 38, followed by 34 apiece from Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel in the death overs.
DC scored 188/5 from 20 overs. Jofra Archer finished with 2/32 for RR.
In response, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his second half-century in a row, adding 61 runs to Sanju Samson's 31 before retiring injured. Jaiswal scored 51 runs, including 3 fours and 4 sixes. Nitish Rana scored 51 runs, including six fours and two sixes.
It all came down to Shimron Hetmyer (15*) and Dhruv Jurel (26), who tied the game after RR scored 188/4 in 20 overs. Mitchell Starc bowled brilliantly as DC defended 9 runs in the last over.
In the super over, again bowled by Starc, RR scored 11 runs while losing two wickets to run-outs and playing only 5 balls.
With 12 runs to win, KL Rahul hit one boundary off Sandeep Sharma before Tristan Stubbs smashed a six to win the super over for DC and earn two critical points.
The cricket fraternity was excited to see the first super over after IPL 2022, sharing their joy on social media. They lauded DC for their game in the main match and the super over as well.
