Amid Mumbai Indians' topsy-turvy run in the ongoing IPL 2025 season, a die-hard Rohit Sharma fan forced his way through the crowd to make an audacious demand to Nita Ambani as she left the Shirdi sanctuary. The Mumbai Indians' owner reacted to the request.
The Mumbai Indians haven't had the finest start to the 18th season of the IPL. They lost their first two games, against the Chennai Super Kings and the Gujarat Titans, before winning convincingly against the defending champions, the Kolkata Knight Riders, on their return to the Wankhede Stadium.
They lost two games in a row, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru winning at the Wankhede for the first time in ten years, before stopping the Delhi Capitals juggernaut at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, defeating them by 12 runs.
With only two wins in six games, Mumbai is seventh in the points table as the league enters its midway point. Despite the run, which came a season after they finished last in the table under new skipper Hardik Pandya, the management has expressed complete support for the all-rounder.
Rohit has been battling to find form in this season's IPL. In five games, he has scored 56 runs at 11.20. The 37-year-old, who stepped down as MI captain priortof IPL 2024, is yet to score more than 20 runs in a single innings in IPL 2025. Since 2023, he has averaged only 24.39 in the IPL.
However, when Nita Ambani visited the Shirdi shrine, a fan pleaded to her with folded hands to make Rohit Sharma the captain again.
He said: "Rohit Sharma ko captain banao (Make Rohit Sharma the captain)," and Nita responded with a smile, saying, “Baba ki marzi (leave it to Baba).”
