The IPL 2025 mega auction continued in Saudi Arabia on day two, November 25.
The IPL 2025 super auction commenced in Jeddah on Monday (November 25), with 577 cricketers competing for 204 empty spots in the ten franchise clubs.
On Sunday (November 24), just 84 players were available for auctioning, with Shreyas Iyer (INR 26.75 crore to PBKS), Rishabh Pant (INR 27 crore to LSG), Venkatesh Iyer (INR 23.75 crore to KKR), and Yuzvendra Chahal (INR 18 crore to PBKS) grabbing the limelight with their exorbitant prices.
Faf du Plessis from the capped batting set was sold to Delhi Capitals for his base price of INR 2 Cr after RCB didn’t use their RTM cards.
One of the most exciting sets to come up on day 2 was the capped all-rounders set. The first name out for auction was Shardul Thakur and he surprisingly went unsold. Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand also went unsold.
Washington Sundar received first bid from Gujarat Titans (GT) and after a brief battle with LSG, the Shubman Gill-led side managed to win the services of Tamil Nadu all-rounder for INR 3.2 Cr.
Sam Curran, once the most expensive player in IPL history, returned to his first franchise in Chennai Super Kings. CSK and LSG had a small bidding war, and CSK won the bid with INR 2.4 Cr.
South Africa’s Marco Jansen was up next and a few franchises were interested in him. MI and PBKS got into it for Jansen and then GT entered the fray. Finally, PBKS got Marco Jansen for INR 7 Cr.
Krunal Pandya, who captained LSG a couple of seasons ago for a few matches, was up next for auction. RR and RCB were seen engaging in some heated bidding for the Baroda all-rounder. In the end, RCB won with a final bid of INR 5.75 Cr, after LSG declined to use their RTM card.
Nitish Rana, former KKR and MI cricketer, saw CSK and RCB bidding for him, and then RR joining the fray. Finally, it was the Royals, who got Nitish Rana for INR 4.2 Cr.
