Stoinis scored his maiden IPL century and second ton in T20 format.
LSG captain KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bowl first. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 100* and Shivam Dube’s 66 in 27 balls (7 sixes and 3 fours) helped CSK put up 210/4 in 20 overs.
When LSG began their chase, they lost Quinton de Kock for a duck. KL Rahul followed soon for 16 and then Devdutt Padikkal was dismissed 13 runs. However, Marcus Stoinis shouldered the chase as he added a valuable 55 with Devdutt Padikkal and then a crucial 70 in just 34 balls with Nicholas Pooran.
Pooran’s quick 15-ball 34 injected the much-needed momentum in LSG chase in the death overs before he fell to Matheesha Pathirana. But Stoinis continued his march after completing his 50 in 26 balls.
Stoinis took down Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman in the last three overs with Deepak Hooda also contributing 17* in 6 balls. Stoinis then hammered a six and three fours off Mustafizur in the last over when 17 runs were needed to win to give LSG the victory.
Stoinis remained not out on 124 in 63 balls, hitting 6 sixes and 13 fours in his knock. LSG won the match by 6 wickets and pocketed 2 valuable points. Marcus Stoinis was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant ton in an epic chase.
The cricket fraternity wholeheartedly praised Marcus Stoinis for his brilliant unbeaten century which helped LSG win the match.
