Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) met in the 20th game of the ongoing IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 7. MI came into this game looking for their first win, while DC was also on the lookout for a victory.

DC skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bowl first. Rohit Sharma (49) and Ishan Kishan (42) ensured an 80-run start in the first 7 overs, while Hardik Pandya made 39 runs as DC pulled the momentum back a bit.

But then Tim David (45* in 21 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes) and Romario Shepherd demolished the DC bowling in death overs. Especially Shepherd, who took Anrich Nortje for 32 runs in the 20th over of MI innings, including 4 huge sixes, as he made 39* in 10 balls.

MI posted 234/5 in 20 overs. Nortje took 2/65, while Akshar Patel took 2/35.

In response, Prithvi Shaw and Abishek Porel took the attack to the MI bowlers after David Warner had fallen for 10 runs. They added 88 runs for the second wicket when Shaw, who was set for a big one, got out to Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliance.

Shaw, batting 66 with 8 fours and 3 sixes, received a picture-perfect yorker from Bumrah, which clattered into the leg stump as Shaw tried to save his foot in the process.

Bumrah also completed his 150 wickets in the IPL, when he dismissed Abishek Porel for 41 runs.
