Dinesh Karthik lauded Mahipal Lomror for taking pressure off him against PBKS.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were in a spot of bother until Dinesh Karthik took charge at the crease during the 6th IPL 2024 match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Bengaluru.
Karthik played an important role in steering RCB to an exciting four-wicket win against PBKS at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday, March 25.
Known for his ability to finish the matches, Karthik hammered 28* runs off just 10 deliveries, which included three boundaries and two sixes, to take RCB over the line against the PBKS after Virat Kohli’s magnificent knock of 77 off 49 balls in Bengaluru.
After helping RCB win their first match of the season, Karthik lauded Mahipal Lomror (17* in 8 balls) for taking pressure off him against PBKS. He also talked about his approach, as the game was in a tense moment.
Dinesh Karthik said in the post-match interaction: “Little bit (dusting off the rustiness). I wasn't completely in control, but getting there. We needed that (knock from Mahipal Lomror), Anuj Rawat batted well last time, but when Mahipal walked out…he took the pressure off me.”
Karthik added, “He (Harshal Patel) is a wily customer, he has the dipping slower one and if you missed that you are a goner, I had to wait to play the scoop. I didn't say anything, he (Lomror) was calm and when he hit that six, I just told him to keep a still head. If I start bowling then you can know what the situation would be for RCB.”
Notably, Karthik will be next seen in action when RCB host Kolkata Knight Riders (RCB) on March 29 at the home ground M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
